Sprint coaching · North London and Essex

Speed iscoachable.Yours included.

I coach sprinters, weightlifters, and field-sport athletes to run faster - on the track, in the gym, and on the pitch. Every sprinter in my group set a personal best this season.

What that looks like

National Medals Chris Hughes

The 60m and 100m Bullet boasting national age-group medals and many county champs golds.

12.30 → 10.75 Samuel Lawson

100m, over several seasons. His 200m came down from 24.1 to 21.99 in the same period.

11.00 James Gillingham

Lifetime 100m best at 27, after six years out of the sport. Plus a Team GB bobsleigh selection off the back of it.

−2.00s → PB Alex Blake

Joined Spiral Sprints after a major leg injury. Significantly reduced his Personal Bests in 60m, 100m, and 200m inside eighteen months.

10.94 → 10.56 Ayo Akingbehin

Joined Spiral Sprints in January 2025 at the age of 27 with a PB of 10.94 from 2019. Ran a new PB of 10.86 a few months later and improved to 10.56 in 2026.

7.9m/s → 8.7m/s Max Brown

Max improved his top speed and high speed running stats on the pitch through hard work on the track and in the gym, earning him an early promotion from youth football to senior men's semi-pro level.

Cyprus Rugby 7s Player of the Tournament Alex Thompson

International PoT and top try scorer after 6 months on the track working on sport-specific speed and personally tailored S+C.

European 100m Champion and Pro Footballers Assistant Coach to Michael Afilaka

Under Head Coach Michael Afilaka, I have had a role in helping Romell Glave to British and European Gold medals - as well as helping professional footballers gain new, better contracts with clubs.

Track sprinters

Block starts, acceleration mechanics, maximum velocity and the strength work that supports them. Junior, senior and masters.

Footballers

Speed, agility, football-specific technique and conditioning for semi-professional and academy players. The gym work exists to serve what happens on the pitch, not the other way round.

Rugby & other sports

Including international rugby players. Contact-sport speed is a different problem to track speed, and I programme it as one.

Who is coaching you

Lee Dollard standing on the track in training kit

I am assistant coach in Michael Afilaka's sprint group, which coaches the current British 100m champion and European 100m gold medallist - and the British 200m silver medallist. Alongside that I run my own group in Essex, Spiral Sprints. I am Head Sprint Coach for St Mary's University, resulting in rare BUCS sprint medals for the university and PBs across all athletes.

I am a British Masters 100m champion with lifetime bests of 6.90, 10.60 and 21.62, a UK Athletics Level 2 Speed Coach, and in the final year of an MSc in Strength & Conditioning at St Mary's University, Twickenham. I am a Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist and Level 3 Trauma-Informed Counsellor, giving me an all-round insight to the body and mind. I aim to complete an MSc in Sports Psychology within the next 7 years.

What athletes say

I have been coached by Lee through Spiral Sports for a few years now, and the results speak for themselves. My 100m time has dropped from 12.3s to 10.75s and 200m from 24.1s to 22.10s. His style of coaching is very personalised and detailed, and can help anyone to reach their goals. Couldn't recommend Lee enough to anyone!

Samuel Lawson

I joined Lee 6 months after I was able to start training again from a major injury, where I was 2 seconds slower than before the injury. Within a year and a half he got me to get a PB in 100m and in 60m. Not only has he helped me physically he also has improved me mentally. He has helped me get through slumps and come out the other side stronger. He is the best coach I have ever had.

Alex Blake

After around a year of training with Lee, I've seen huge improvements not just in my performance on the track, but in my overall health. His coaching has helped me reach a level where I was able to compete at the European Indoor Masters Athletics Championships, which is something I wouldn't have achieved without his guidance. The training is always well structured, with the right balance of track work, strength training, and recovery, and he's consistently supportive and knowledgeable throughout.

Jan Barnard

After less than a year of training under Lee, I have seen a massive improvement in my form, speed and confidence on the track. This, paired with complimentary gym workouts and consistent feedback, has made my journey as an athlete a lot smoother. I would definitely recommend his guidance.

Adeyinka Thomas

I started up my training with Lee as a complete beginner to fitness and through his set plan and PT sessions I have seen a lot of improvement. He was great at making the sessions catered to me whilst making sure that the correct techniques were being used. His work carries across from beginners to more advanced athletes and by listening and training with him I couldn't find a more suitable PT. Alongside being a great trainer, his immense people and communication skills make training enjoyable and reinforce that you're in safe hands.
